Great food and the best places to eat in Elgol

Whilst here in Elgol we are in quite a remote location we do have some great places to visit if you are into your food. Quite literally on our doorstep, The Coruisk House Hotel is a must try whilst you stay with us. You will need to book in advance but it is well worth it for this Michelin Guide listed restaurant. Clare and Iain will be your hosts and you will be royally looked after once inside. Clare’s homemade bread and the freshest of Skye dishes prepared expertly by Iain along with the finest of wines make for a wonderful experience in a lovely cosy and intimate setting. They also offer a takeaway service on occasions… ideal to take back to your snug cottage!

Turn right out of the driveway and walk (or drive) for around half a mile and you will find the newly opened Elgol Bistro. Donald and Eileen will make you feel very welcome and you will be able to choose from yet more lovely fresh Skye dishes. The Cullen Skink is especially tasty… You might strike lucky and be with us when they have wine tasting or even a quiz night!…

Head further down the same road and look for the Elgol Shop… its more than just a shop though. Its an Aladdin’s Cave of gifts and, for the purposes of this post, the most wonderful selection of cakes. Homemade by Ruth, who lives locally, be sure to get there well before closing because there will be nothing left if you arrive too late!

On your drive to Elgol (or on the way back to Broadford) you will pass by Amy’s Place Tearoom and Gifts in Torrin. Do yourself a favour and make sure you stop there at least once! You won’t regret it…. in fact….you will likely stop there again! Mark and Alison are your hosts and their selection of cakes, pastries, savoury snacks and freshly made sandwiches will likely distract you from what is, undoubtedly, one of the best views from a tea room I can possibly think of!

Wherever you decide to eat ……. Bon Appetit!
