Some things to do in Elgol and nearby… Stay a while, see more!

Down at the harbour

One of the first things you really must do once you have reached the little hamlet of Elgol is take a trip down to the harbour. The view there is, arguably, one of the best you will find anywhere on the Isle of Skye. You can walk down onto the rocky beach past the primary school (how good must it be to go to school here?) where you will come across the amazing ‘Honeycomb Rock’. Go carefully around this headland and you will find ruined houses, strange rock formations, spectacular views and most likely some of our lovely wildlife. Stay a while….take it all in!

Check out what you may find here on a windy day!

Take a little walk

Behind the car park at the pier is a rough track taking you to the headland in the opposite direction. The views out to Rum, Soay and Canna are breath taking whatever the weather and the sunsets have to be seen to be believed from this wee spot. The amazing sedimentary rocks along here are millions of years old. You may just stumble across ancient footprints if you look in the right place! So many things to look out for…. you will need to stay a while to take it all in!

The best boat trip

We might be at the end of the road in Elgol but you really are spoilt for choice. Take a boat trip with Misty Isle and visit the beautiful Loch Coruisk right in the heart of the Cuillin. It is a dramatic place to see. The looming peaks all around and the sometimes tranquil waters of the loch forming the centre piece… You will wish you had stayed a while longer!

This is only a snippet of what is on offer in Elgol and nearby…. you will not regret staying a while longer…whats the rush? (We will tell you more next time!)
